Job vs. Career - What do you want?

Welcome to our first official blog entry of Vantage Career Solutions.  Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey as we begin to help others realize and obtain their career goals.

I am asked so many times what is the difference between a job and a career?  This is a great question, let's look at the difference between having a 'job' and a 'career'.

So we have a general idea of what a job is versus a career, our friends at http://www.dictionary.com/ tell us that a job is defined as:

Job - noun

1. an individual piece of work or task
2. an occupation; post of employment
3. an object worked on or a result produced from working
4. a duty or responsibility.

Whereas a career is:

Career - noun

1. an occupation or profession, especially one requiring special training, followed as one's lifework
2. a person's progress or general course of action through life or through a phase of life, as in some profession or undertaking
3. success in a profession, occupation, etc.

Interesting the difference between a 'job' and a 'career'.  If you noticed, having a job sounds very industrial and indicates labor and work and having a career sounds more defined and shows promise and direction.
